This is a working overview of 研究代号, written for readers who want more than a one-paragraph summary but less than a textbook.
Reviewed 2026-04-08. Anything still debated is marked as such rather than presented as settled.
Several questions about the compound remain unresolved. The durability of weight reduction after treatment stops, the frequency of gastrointestinal side effects, and the long-term cardiovascular profile are topics of ongoing study. Regulatory submissions and phase 3 trial outcomes have not been fully reported in the public literature. Because most available data come from controlled trials rather than general-population use, conclusions about effectiveness outside study settings are provisional. The distinction between established findings and open questions matters when interpreting early coverage of the drug.
Retatrutide is an investigational peptide developed by a pharmaceutical company as a multi-receptor agonist for treating obesity and type 2 diabetes. The compound emerged from research into gut-hormone analogues that act on several receptors simultaneously rather than on a single target. Early preclinical work examined how combined activity at three distinct receptors might produce greater metabolic effects than single-receptor compounds. Published phase 2 results have described substantial reductions in body weight among participants, although the compound remains unapproved in most jurisdictions as of the mid-2020s.
Pharmacologically, retatrutide acts as a triple agonist at the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, and the glucagon receptor. Activation of the first two receptors is associated with improved insulin secretion and reduced appetite. The glucagon receptor component is thought to increase energy expenditure, a mechanism that distinguishes this molecule from dual-agonist compounds. Researchers continue to investigate how the three activities interact and whether the combined profile offers advantages that justify additional clinical testing.

Each receptor contributes a different physiological effect. Activation of the GLP-1 receptor slows gastric emptying and reduces appetite signaling in the brain. GIP receptor activity influences insulin secretion and lipid handling, while glucagon receptor stimulation raises energy use and fat oxidation. Combining these pathways is intended to produce weight loss beyond what single- or dual-receptor agonists achieve. Researchers attribute the observed potency to simultaneous engagement of all three targets, though the exact contribution of each receptor to overall effect remains under investigation.
Clinical development has advanced through phase 2 trials in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes. Reported phase 2 results described substantial average weight reduction over roughly forty-eight weeks of weekly dosing. A phase 3 program is ongoing to confirm efficacy and assess long-term safety. Because the compound has not received regulatory approval, it is not available as a prescription product. Public discussion of retatrutide often conflates trial findings with marketed status, an important distinction when interpreting coverage of the topic.
Retatrutide is a synthetic peptide developed as a single molecule that activates three distinct hormone receptors: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. The compound carries the internal designation LY3437943 and was engineered by modifying the backbone of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide. Its sequence incorporates non-natural amino acids and a fatty acid side chain that extends circulation time. The triple-agonist design aims to combine appetite suppression, improved insulin response, and increased energy expenditure in one agent. Published reports describe it as an investigational product rather than an approved medicine.
== How causes are established == The causes of autism have been a subject of scientific research, but understanding of its etiology remains incomplete. The scientific discipline of epidemiology has been the major tool to hypothesize and evaluate genetic, epigenetic, prenatal, perinatal, and environmental factors.
Open file backup: Many backup software applications undertake to back up open files in an internally consistent state. Some applications simply check whether open files are in use and try again later. Other applications exclude open files that are updated very frequently. Some low-availability interactive applications can be backed up via natural/induced pausing. Interrelated database files backup: Some interrelated database file systems offer a means to generate a "hot backup" of the database while it is online and usable. This may include a snapshot of the data files plus a snapshotted log of changes made while the backup is running. Upon a restore, the changes in the log files are applied to bring the copy of the database up to the point in time at which the initial backup ended. Other low-availability interactive applications can be backed up via coordinated snapshots. However, genuinely-high-availability interactive applications can be only be backed up via Continuous Data Protection.
=== Autism === James is best known for her autism-related research. Regarding autism, James' view is that the transsulfuration pathway is disrupted in autistic children, resulting in these children being deficient in glutathione, as well as vitamins such as vitamin B6 and vitamin B12, and that maternal glutathione deficiency may also be a risk factor for autism. She has also claimed that administering these compounds as supplements, as well as methylcobalamin and folinic acid, to autistic children can significantly restore their levels of glutathione and cysteine and may therefore be useful in the treatment of autism. In addition, she has speculated that autistic children possess an impaired methylation capacity and that, according to a study she presented at the 2005 Experimental Biology conference, they have a unique biological "fingerprint" in their blood which neurotypical children lack. With regard to this particular study, James said, "One interpretation of this finding is that children with autism would be less able to detoxify and eliminate these heavy metals." According to the official blog of Autism Speaks, James found that autistic children exhibit abnormal folate metabolism that is detectable by higher levels of plasma homocysteine, adenosine, and S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine in the mothers of these children. Her glutathione-related research has been cited by anti-vaccine activists, such as Robert F.
== Function in protein termination == Protein elongation continues until a stop codon appears on the mRNA. A Class I release factor (RF1 or RF2) binds to the stop codon, which induces hydrolysis of the tRNA-peptide bond in the P site, allowing the newly-formed protein to exit the ribosome. The nascent peptide continues to fold and leaves the 70S ribosome, the mRNA, the deacylated tRNA (P site), and the Class I release factor (A site). In a GTP-dependent manner, the subsequent recycling is catalyzed by a Class II release factor named RF3/prfC, Ribosome recycling factor (RRF), Initiation Factor 3 (IF3) and EF-G. The protein RF3 releases the Class I release factor so that it may occupy the ribosomal A site. EF-G hydrolyzes GTP and undergoes a large conformational change to push RF3 down the ribosome, which occurs alongside tRNA dissociation and promotes the ribosomal subunit rotation. This motion actively splits the B2a/B2b bridge, which connects the 30S and the 50S subunits, so that the ribosome can split. IF3 then isolates the 30S subunit to prevent re-association of the large and small subunits.
In practice, PCR can fail for various reasons, such as sensitivity or contamination. Contamination with extraneous DNA can lead to spurious products and is addressed with lab protocols and procedures that separate pre-PCR mixtures from potential DNA contaminants. For instance, if DNA from a crime scene is analyzed, a single DNA molecule from lab personnel could be amplified and misguide the investigation. Hence the PCR-setup areas is separated from the analysis or purification of other PCR products, disposable plasticware used, and the work surface between reaction setups needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Specificity can be adjusted by experimental conditions so that no spurious products are generated. Primer-design techniques are important in improving PCR product yield and in avoiding the formation of unspecific products. The usage of alternate buffer components (such as DMSO to help denature DNA) or polymerase enzymes can help with amplification of long or otherwise problematic regions of DNA. For instance, Q5 polymerase is said to be ≈280 times less error-prone than Taq polymerase, and more processive. Both the running parameters (e.g. temperature and duration of cycles), or the addition of reagents, such as formamide, may increase the specificity and yield of PCR. Computer simulations of theoretical PCR results (Electronic PCR) may be performed to assist in primer design.

== Etymology == The word vegetable was first recorded in English in the early 15th century. It comes from Old French, and was originally applied to all plants; the word is still used in this sense in biological contexts. It derives from Medieval Latin vegetabilis "growing, flourishing" (i.e. of a plant), a semantic change from a Late Latin meaning "to be enlivening, quickening". The meaning of "vegetable" as a "plant grown for food" was not established until the 18th century. In 1767, the word was specifically used to mean a "plant cultivated for food, an edible herb or root". The year 1955 saw the first use of the shortened, slang term "veggie". As an adjective, the word vegetable is used in scientific and technical contexts with a different and much broader meaning, namely of "related to plants" in general, edible or not—as in vegetable matter, vegetable kingdom, vegetable origin, etc.

Short-wave ultraviolet radiation can destroy DNA in living microorganisms. UVC's effectiveness is directly related to intensity and exposure time. UV has also been shown to reduce gaseous contaminants such as carbon monoxide and VOCs. UV lamps radiating at 184 and 254 nm can remove low concentrations of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide if the air is recycled between the room and the lamp chamber. This arrangement prevents the introduction of ozone into the treated air. Likewise, air may be treated by passing by a single UV source operating at 184 nm and passed over iron pentaoxide to remove the ozone produced by the UV lamp.
=== Psychological === Autism: Oxytocin has been implicated in the etiology of autism, with one report suggesting autism is correlated to a mutation on the oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR). Studies involving Caucasian, Finnish and Chinese Han families provide support for the relationship of OXTR with autism. Autism may also be associated with an aberrant methylation of OXTR. However, evidence has shown that intranasal administration is likely insufficient to produce behavioural effects and it could be explained by publication bias and selective outcome reporting, impacting reproducibility of results. In addition, with focus being primarily on animal models that lack translational validity due to autism's complex social and communicative dimensions, current discussion has challenged the intervention and stated that neurodivergent perspectives need to be considered. Protection of brain functions: Studies in rats have demonstrated that nasal application of oxytocin can alleviate impaired learning capabilities caused by restrained stress. The authors attributed this effect to an improved hippocampal response in Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) being observed. Accordingly, oxytocin has been shown to promote neural growth in the hippocampus in rats even during swim stress or glucocorticoid administration. In a mouse model of early onset of Alzheimer's, the administration of oxytocin by a gel particularly designed to make the peptide accessible for the brain, the cognitive decline and hippocampal atrophy of these mice were delayed.
=== Economic considerations === The cost-effectiveness of circumcision has been studied to determine whether a policy of circumcising all newborns or a policy of promoting and providing inexpensive or free access to circumcision for all adult men who choose it would result in lower overall societal healthcare costs. As HIV/AIDS is an incurable disease that is expensive to manage, significant effort has been spent studying the cost-effectiveness of circumcision to reduce its spread in parts of Africa that have a relatively high infection rate and low circumcision prevalence. Several analyses have concluded that circumcision programs for adult men in Africa are cost-effective and in some cases cost-saving. In Rwanda, circumcision has been found to be cost-effective across a wide range of age groups from newborn to adult, with the greatest savings achieved when it is performed in the newborn period due to the lower cost per procedure and greater timeframe for HIV infection protection. Circumcision to prevent HIV transmission in adults has also been found to be cost-effective in South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda, with cost savings estimated in the billions of US dollars over 20 years. Hankins et al. (2011) estimated that a $1.5 billion investment in circumcision for adults in 13 high-priority African countries would yield $16.5 billion in savings.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission uses government provided funds to implement its programs either directly - through its 29 state offices, by directly funding Khadi and Village institutions and cooperatives, or indirectly through 33 Khadi and Village Industries Boards, which are statutory bodies formed by the state governments within India, set up for the purpose of promoting Khadi and Village Industries in their respective states. The Khadi and Village Industries Boards, in turn, fund Khadi and Village Institutions/Co-operatives/Entrepreneurs.
==== Unintended use ==== It is not safe to calculate divided doses by cutting and weighing medical skin patches, because there's no guarantee that the substance is evenly distributed on the patch surface. For example, fentanyl transdermal patches are designed to slowly release the substance over 3 days. It is well known that cut fentanyl transdermal consumed orally have cause overdoses and deaths. Single blotting papers for illicit drugs injected from solvents in syringes may also cause uneven distribution across the surface.

It is designed as a triple agonist acting on the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. This combination is intended to influence appetite, insulin secretion, and energy expenditure. Single-receptor and dual-receptor compounds act on a narrower set of targets.
No. It remains investigational, and phase 3 results have not been fully published or reviewed by regulators. Official approval status should be confirmed through regulatory agencies rather than secondary sources.
The added glucagon receptor activity is the main difference in its mechanism. Whether that addition produces meaningful benefits in clinical outcomes is still being studied. Comparisons between compounds rest largely on indirect rather than head-to-head trial data.
